Under the leadership of Dr. Junaid Razzak, Vice Chair of Research for the Department of Emergency Medicine at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medicine, our lab investigates health outcomes in emergency medicine, particularly focusing on medical informatics and public health. As one of the few NIH-funded researchers in the field of global emergency medicine, with expertise in low and middle-income countries, Dr. Razzak's work at Weill Cornell spans topics ranging from emergency care for vulnerable communities to innovation and technology.
Leveraging his diverse background as a former professor and founding chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Aga Khan University, director of the World Health Organization Collaborating Center for Emergency Medicine and Trauma in the Eastern Mediterranean Region, and founder of EMS for the city of Karachi, Pakistan (which has a population of more than 20 million), our lab's primary focus includes investigating life-saving interventions accessible to vulnerable communities during times of crisis. We concentrate on community- and systems-based initiatives that can benefit those in need; examples include raising awareness regarding cardiopulmonary resuscitation, assisting with disaster relief measures, and improving interactions and outcomes of the general public with medical teams.
By collaborating with on-the-ground stakeholders and organizations, we implement lifesaving measures and conduct research on the outcomes of such initiatives to provide evidence-based care to diverse global populations.
